The temp sensor for the gauge in the side of the head busted off and an easy out wont take it out what other options are there?

Re: Temp sensor
I personally would live without the guage, you could try drilling it out and re-thread it (try using a left hand bit first, it may catch and thread it out for you), but if you screw up you could end up having to replace the head.

Re: Temp sensor
There will also be an unused hole on the other head in the same location with a plug in it. You could install a new sensor in the other head. Or course, you will need to add some wire but that is an option.

Re: Temp sensor
Get the right type "socket" to remove the pipe plug in the RH head. I would only attempt to remove that plug as a last resort, becuase they generally are hell to get out.
How did the sending unit in the drivers side head "break off"? Is there no "nut" left on the sending unit in which to use a socket to remove? Generally you have reasonable access to the drivers side head. I would imagine there is a way to get it out. If the truck is a TBI engine you don't have to many other options. You can atteempt to remove the pipe plug in the RH head, but I would avoid messing with that, especially with the engine in the truck. |
