Where is the a/c filter on a 2002 LS v8.

How do I change the A/C filter? Do I need to go to the dealer? As you may have guessed I am not auto savy. I can change a bulb or two.

Welcome to the forum!

Assuming you are referring to the cabin air filter rather than the filter for the climate controlled seats, the filter is located at the base of the windshield on the passenger side (in the US). There are round plastic "rivets" that need to be removed. To release these (they are reuseable) press the center of the rivet down a quarter of an inch or so, then lift them out. You'll also need to remove the little rubber flap on the far outside of the windshield base as well. With all of these removed, wiggle the plastic cowl vent away from the firewall/windshield and you'll see the filter. There are a couple of tabs that are part of the filter that hold it in place. Release those and lift the old filter out.

Before installing the cowl vent, push the centers of the rivets in the opposite direction so they stick up about 1/4 inch. Position the rivets into the holes, then press the centers down flush with the head.

Turn the key on and reset the maintenance computer.

Also, my experience has been the replacement filters, at least the Purolator brand, come with fairly good instructions on how to replace the filter. You may want to pick up the filter first and go from there.
