Turbos in general are not going to blow your engine. Properly installed, they will not hurt your engine. Problems with turbos occur when too much boost is run and other such problems...

Off the top of my head, the worst thing that a turbo can do is make your car have poorer emissions when you start it up. This is because your turbo is dissipating a lot of the exhaust heat, causing your cat to not heat up fast enough to work properly - causing poor emissions.

What he said. And also, get a compression check before even considering a turbo.

i think your thinking of nos when you say it wont hurt your engine because a turbo is forced induction and it puts alot of pressure on the system because its boost.

if your having a shop install your turbo then they should tune it up for you but its good to have tuning experience because if something gets thrown off then you can fix it also you can tell that something is wrong in the first place

i would recommend a rebuild or maybe even a lite build up if you got the money. cause its a 93 and taht 10 years old, alot easier for older parts to break especially on boost

what he's talking about tuning is fuel, ignition, compressions and all the wonderful things that matter about this subject. If u have a determined mind and want to work on ur car you could do it, the greddy kit is not on the same level as the apex kit. as for a build up on a sohc depends how much boost you want, to be happy with results u would have to run at least 8psi, that means u dont really have to upgrade pistons n what not but u definately need to upgrade head gasket with high pressure gasket, and an ignition system I recomend jocobs ice pak, has worked cool with me. wires, plugs and a new fuel pump with higher cc injectors. fuel rail, fuel pressure riser as as well as regulator, keep in mind most of this stuff comes with the kit, but it is cheaper to build ur own kit then it is to go buy one. I can turbo charge a sohc for 750.00 as aposed to the 1595.00 greddy offers uninstalled.. happy posting..
