Talking engine noise

when my 2000 grand prix gt idles it makes almost a whimpering noise. if i hit the gas it goes away. i thought at one point if had something to do with the fact that oil dipstick had no seal on it but i got a new one and now that it seals the sound is louder. if i pull dip out so that there is restricting the air flow at all it goes away all together. i asked around about it and the answer i get is that it could be and sounds like a bad water pump. i don't know what do you think.

Re: engine noise

Have you changed the PCV valve lately? I would have to believe the one in your car is bad and causing this issue.

Re: engine noise

thanks for your reply. actually yes i have changed it, about 2 months ago. however the seal on the sensor looks like it needs to be replced but ive pushed on it left and right to see if it would change as the seal shifted from side to side but the noise never change. the smallest piece riped off a rather long seal so im pretty sure its still doing its job but i may vary well be wrong. do you think there could be anything else.

Re: engine noise

That is a possibility but doubtful although the seal may have something to do with the issue as the valve probably isn't working right. There is a replacement kit available for this engine's PCV but you may need to get it from a dealer. PM Richtazz and see if he can get you the part number.
