1998 villager wheel studs stripped

So now I have two drivers side front wheel studs that are stripped and need to be replaced. Has anyone done this job themselves, or has a basic procedure? The hanes manual isn't clear, any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess remove wheel, brake and rotor, hub locking nut, use puller to remove hub from driveshaft? any suggestions, any one? thanks

Aside form what you just said you will need air tools to pull the stud back in with the nut. I do not think you need to remove the axle form th carrier but I am not sure. I would suggest you hand spin the nut on till its sits on the stud before you attempt to tighten it.

Re: 1998 villager wheel studs stripped

update, got the new studs pressed into the hub, however when I pulled the hub from the steering knuckle the bearing inner race came with it. The bearings and outer race are still in the steering knuckle. Now I have a problem getting the hub to seat properly in the steering knuckle, I used the spindle nut to "force" the inner race into the bearing however I don't think it went in far enough and now the bearing is making noise. Any suggestions, later on in the manual it says that the entire steering knucle and hub should be removed and taken to the shop to be Pressed. why they directed me to remove the hub using a puller I'll never know. Any help, or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Replace the bearing like it says and have pressed in at machine shop. Should solve your problem. The book especially haynes manual is not exact it just gives you a good indication on how to do things. Your common sense is suppose stop you or make do it the right way. I always read the manual instructions in front of the job to be performed and examination there steps cause they sometimes make you work harder. .e.g. disconnect battery to change tire.
