Phone tries to make a call

Hi, does anyone know how to stop the phone from trying to make a call when you first start the car? there is no phone in the car anymore but the stereo system still tries to make a call.

Is there anyway to turn the phone system off?

Thanks

I believe the only way to program the phone functions is with the handset. You'd better have a look at your Factory Service Manual.. There's a whole section dedicated to the phone functions..

I have one on my freebie site, but it's Town Car, and 1996. Have a glance if you'd like .....

Re: Phone tries to make a call

Hi, thanks for the help. It does read like I need the handset to do things. I off course i don't have it. Guess I'm stuck with it trying to call out ever time I start the car.

Thanks Town car for all your help.

Another thing to try, the control unit (late 90's) is in the trunk. You could try disconnecting some of the connector plugs. Also, I've seen the handsets from time to time on EBAY too. I had one for my 1996 and sold it on EBAY.
