'99 burb - knocking sound on right side

Since a few weeks I hear a knocking sound when driving through holes or over short bumps. At first I thought it was related to the suspension but I think I narrowed the possibilities down to the right front door.
I mean, if you hold the door open a bit while driving, there is no longer any knocking

Is this a common issue ? Is there something inside the door that is known to come loose because on first sight, I can't find anything wrong on the outside ...
I've already read here that getting the cover off isn't that easy ..
So, I'd rather wait on that if someone knows it is something else (hinge, ...?)

Thanks in advance
Guy

Re: '99 burb - knocking sound on right side

I had the same problem on my 99. The bolts that hold the window regulator to the door where loose. I would notice it with the window in any position. It was alot louder when the window was down and I shut the door. It took me longer to get the door panels off then to tighten the bolts.

Ok Rob, so the panel must come off ...
Although I thought I found a solution by spray lubricating the hinges and stuff but after some time it came back.
But the fact that it stayed away for a while indicates that the problem lies at the hinges ... no ?

Does it make any difference with the window up or down? You could try putting the window halfway down and try moving it to duplicate the rattle. If the door does not drop when opened the hinges are probably OK. Ususally its the drivers door hinges that go first since they are used the most. With the door closed see if you can push it in anymore like the weather sstipping is starting to deteriorate. The door panel is not to bad to get off just take your time and the plastic retainers pop put and wont break. HOpe this helps.
