Okay it started by occasionaly not starting. Relays owuld click but engine would not turn over. After running the gear shift thru PRNDL several times it would start and no problems rest of the day. Finally it just would start anymore. I have cleaned all the battery cables, bypassed the VATS and replaced the neutral safety switch. Any other ideas? I still get relays clicking but no cranking.

Re: 1995 Olds 88 Wont start
Welcome to AF, I assume you mean the starter will not turn the engine, does the dash security lite stay on when this happens.

Re: 1995 Olds 88 Wont start
I would start first to see if the starter solenoid is getting power when the key is turned,if it is then I would then suspect the starter,if not then I would go with the key switch and see if its putting out power just make sure you have correctly bypassed the vats system, good luck.

Re: 1995 Olds 88 Wont start
When you turn the key to the run position does the security light stay on? If it stays on then the bypass isn't working properly.
Check to see if you're getting 12 volts to the small wire (purple?) on the starter solenoid when key is in the start position. |

Re: 1995 Olds 88 Wont start
I dont know if it was dumb luck or not, but today when mine wouldnt start, i got out and played with the "Purple" wire on the starter, and it started right up.
