Two Questions

Okay, I bought myself my dream vehicle, a '95 Wrangler, red with a soft top. It needed soem work which I have ben doing on my own. I was never a "car" person but had a bacis working knowledge, my father had always made me help him do brakes, change the oil, starters, ect. But I took on the Jeep project as a hooby full of love. So far I've done the entire brake system, shocks, struts, leaf springs and most of the surface rust.

But I've run into 2 problems that I can't quite figure out whats broken to figure out what to fix, I am hoping someone here with more knowledge can point me in the right direction to trouble shoot.

1) My left rear turn signal only works sometimes. When its not working I can give it a open handed slap and it pops right on and will work for a day or 2 then back off. I have checked the lamps and every connection inside the signal itself, but can't find anything loose. Anyone have any other suggestions?

2) Now that summer is here, I've noticed that I always have hot air coming through the defroster vents, even with everything turned off. I know I need a new radiator, its slightly dented but the truck never overheats or even runs hot. I've yet to find this problem listed anywhere so I have no idea where to begin troubleshooting it. I considered taking out the fan fuse, but thats not a real fix.

Thanks in adavance to any suggestions.

Smile Re: Two Questions

First Question. The Turn Signal Is Probably Your Signal Switch, But You Didn't Say Where You Slap, So It Might Be Your Blinker Relay. There Is One On The Fuse Box, And Also One Inside The Dash By The Steering Column.(one For The Hazards, And One For The Turnsignals.) An Easy Way To Check This Is To Turn On Your Hazards When You Don't Have The Turn Signal. If Both Sides Blink, You Need To Replace The Relay. If One Side Still Doesn't Blink, You Need To Change The Signal Switch, Which Is In The Steering Wheel.

Second Question. The Hot Air Sounds Like The Position Switch On Your Temp Control Might Have A Slight Leak In The Vacuum Line, Causing It To Not Close All The Way. The Only Way To Test This Is To Take Out The Temp Control From The Dash, And Listen To The Lines. Turn Your Car On For About Fifteen Seconds, Then Off. Then Turn The Knob To The First Position.you Will Hear The Vacuum Lines Working. You Need To Repeat This Procedure For All The Lines. Chek The Connections Where It Connects To The Switch First. No Need To Start And Restart Your Car If The Connections Are Bad.

Re: Two Questions

On your first question, that usually indicates a bad ground. I believe but am not certain that the ground is provided by the light frame. Pull the entire light assy off the vehicle and clean up all that you see. Hope that works.

Second issue I can't help you with other than saying my 93 does the same. I just live with it since I'm usually running the AC in AZ.

enjoy your jeep, I know I do.

Re: Two Questions

about the turn signal, i would definitely buy a 2 dollar turn signal flasher from autozone or somewhere similar before i bought a new turn signal switch and tore everything apart. and about the defroster vents i have the same problem...i dunno, it dosent really bother me much though.. good luck
