Question service light

Does anyone know how to reset the "Service Inspection" light that comes on the mileage counter when you start the car?

Service Light

Hi! I was told by my Audi dealer that they will have to reset the service light at the shop. He said a lot of the time the service light comes on if the gas cap is not properly tightened. You might want to give the dealer a call before going in. Cheers //Mark//

A6 Service Light

Hi. I am not aware of a 'light' that comes on when it is time for service (oil change). The 'information center' shows miles to go before service automatically upon engine start when it has less the 400 miles to go to service. The 'idiot' light for check engine comes on when something is amiss (such as loose gas cap) but it could indicate something more serious too. I have a 2004 A6 Avant and I am not aware of a service light for oil change since I had service with about 150 miles to go and only saw the miles-to-service countdown on the 'information center'. Hope this answers your question. If not feel free to reply. cheers //mjp//

If you still have your owners manual there are instructions in there on how to reset it. It's something like turning the key one click and then pushing the milage reset button a couple of times... I don't have access to it right now but I'll take a look tonight if nobody post the solution for you. You might find it on google also.

Re: service light

Danrace - Thanks, that is useful information, especially when the service tech forgets to reset it after service. Why don't they just tell us this stuff? Cheers
