1999 windstar door locks

neither my remote nor the buttons in the van will unlock the front doors. when i hit the button i see them raise up a little then go back down. the other doors unlock just fine.

Re: 1999 windstar door locks

i have a 2003 windstar and had the same problem with rear locks. The thing with mine was the doors were locked and couldnt open them.I took door panels off and the motor was working the locks but not enough fully lock and unlock.I called ford and 150.00 on the pass side and 99.00 for drivers side I could fix the problem.I chose to uplugg the motors and problem fixed,so i would say you need to replace the whole latch assembly.good luck

Re: 1999 windstar door locks

Pulled up the old thread about the door locks. it will also work on your 1999. this is a cheaper way to fix the lock problems.. The blog I have on it . Just click on it. and it will tell you how to install. I just a few weeks ago put power door locks on my nephews 2003 ford zx2 he had no power door locks at all and now has power locks with keyless entry. using these same actuators. Have not had any problems at this point with these door lock actuators... Hope this helps Gary

Re: 1999 windstar door locks

Keep in mind this is one of the best ways to fix these locks without paying an arm and a leg. i even think the simple design of these universal actuators will out last the dealers.. Plus for 14.00 total investment besides time for install and others who have had great success this is a good way to go.I wish a lot of the owners on here lived near me I would gladly install for free other than the cost of the part..Looking back on the date of my first post its been almost 2yrs with no problems from the locks. My first try i had to go back in and adjust and add new wire crimp but it was the first attempt and and now both sides are trouble free..
