98 Grand Am Engine Temperature Coolant Sensor
Hi! i'm new to the forum but i hope you guys can help me out here. i took my car to the mechanic that we always use. my check engine light was on and my temperature gauge seems to work but doesn't register any temperature. he told me it came back to the engine temperature coolant sensor. my father in law said he could change that no problem. so i bought a new one and he installed it. the check engine light wouldn't go off. i took it to the Advance and they cleared the codes. the check engine light went off until the next time i started the car. i took it back to Advance and they put it on the diagnostic again. it showed P0118 again. i am thinking we need to change the connector now but i really don't know. am i missing something? is there something else i need to look at? HELP?

Re: 98 Grand Am Engine Temperature Coolant Sensor
Welcome to AF.
I would first check the plug in and the wires to the temp sensor plug. This might help you figure it out too ![]() http://www.myrotarycar.com/portal/fo...200100W10.html Hope that helps.

Re: 98 Grand Am Engine Temperature Coolant Sensor
thank you. tomorrow i am going to get a new plug (connector) and then hopefully the check engine light will go off. am i right to assume that fixing whatever is wrong with this sensor will fix the temperature gauge also? the gauge worked fine prior to the check engine light coming on. i will post back what happens tomorrow. let's hope it is good news!
