Help me please :) ~!!

Okay need a bit of help, hopefully you guys can figure out what might be wrong..

I recently bought a 1984 2m4 Fiero for $1000.00 ..

I got it .. and heres the problem..

The Brake lights work, but the signal lights do not..
The Middle 2 lights in the top center light fixture remain on and wont turn off.
My computer keeps saying Check engine and it keeps saying the handbrake is on when its not, and the Shift light is always on..


also its 4 spd..

is the gear shifter supposed to be a bit loose? like Its not overly stiff at all..

sounds like more than one problem
a Haynes or other repair book will help you check for codes in the computer using a jumper wire.
diconnect wire on handbrake and see if light goes out
disconnect plug from speed sensor ( top of tranny) to see if shift light goes out.
may be a short keeping other lights on or even causing all or most of your trouble. GOOD LUCK

The only thing i can think of is to check for a short of some kind. Maybe some water got to it...

When I first purchased my 86 SE I also had lighting issues. Turn signals woudl not work most of the time and at times the marker lights would also not work. After tow weeks of driving the car they seem to clear up. The car was sitting for three years before I got it.
