Tamiya White Primer or Cobra Colors Black Primer?
I'm going to be painting a car using Cobra Colors Lamborghini Blu Monterey Metallic, and I want to know what the best color primer would be. The paint itself is a two part paint, with a lavender candy with pearls basecoat, and a candy blue topcoat. So I know the white will make it lighter, and the black darker. I just don't know which will give me the TRUEST color. Or should I spray primer, then spray some silver (which I'll have to go out and get) before I hit it with the base?

why don't you just test it for yourself on a bit of scrap?

I think white primer is that, what they use on real cars.

Re: Tamiya White Primer or Cobra Colors Black Primer?
Use white or grey- for color, it doesn't really matter which. Leon always said that the pigment opacity in CobraColors (except Fire Pearls) was sufficient that it didn't really matter what color the primer was.
Fire Pearls were intentionally translucent, so they needed to be applied over black. Factory finihses like the Lambo Tricoat you're using are not transparent. Other than for Fire Pearls, I would stay away from black primer (I avoid white whenever I can, too). If you can use grey, it's nearly always the best option, as it allows the best viewing of flaws to be fixed. Personally when using colors that require primer of a color other than grey, I would always apply grey first. Fix whatever needs addressing and get the body perfect in the grey primer stage. Then if necessary apply a thin layer of whatever other color (black, white, pink...), and then apply the color. So simple answer for your Lambo paint- skip both the white and the black. Get yourself some grey, and apply the color directly over that. Save the white or black primers for colors that need them.

The best and easiest way to test paints is with white plastic spoons. Real cheap too!!! Spray one with white primer, one with black, then hit 'em with the blue and clear and see which one works for you.
