1998 Dodge 1500 Pickup Reverse Lights
Hi there,
I have a problem with my reverse lights on my truck. Something is out of adjustment but not sure what it is or where to look. When I put the truck in reverse the lights do not come on however when a hold pressure on the shifter toward the park the lights come on. Does anyone have an idea of where to look for an adjustment? Thanks in advance for your help. Karl |

Re: 1998 Dodge 1500 Pickup Reverse Lights
dodge has a reverse switch that screws in the trans on the drivers side it should have i think two wires it also has a neutral switch and it also screws inside the trans drivers side i think it has three or four wires. but yours reverse lights work if you play with the shifter. there is a linkage that goes from the shifter to the trans. this linkage has an adjusting place on it try this with trans in park loosen the holdown bolt pull all the slack out of the linkage as you can from the shifter end without letting the part on the trans move any then tighten the holdown bolt back tight. then move the shifter and see if all the gear marks and shifter still all line up . if the lights still won't work put it back in park and go back and loosen the shifter linkage and push slack back the other way . tighten holdown bolt and see what you got now. if it won't work then put a new reverse switch in fluid will come out so when you take the old one out so have the new one ready to put in real fast
