water gushing out water pump

How can I tell if i need a new water pump, or just new freeze plugs? I never saw any water leaking out previously. Or could it be something more serious

Re: water gushing out water pump

on my moms van when the water pump broke the water pump started leaking out of the weeping hole. i changed it and everything worked again.

my ranger is overheating now, so i changed the hoses, thermostat, radiator, and i just changed the waterpump but i got no luck, it still overheats.

i know something though, when i run the ranger and watch the water from the radiator CAP i can see the water flowing in the hose from the thermostat which does indicate the water is flowing!

Bratt: When your Ranger overheated, did it pop the radiator cap from over pressure? How hot was it when it (using an infra-red thermometer) was overheating?

i dont have an infra red thermometer,
no it never poped the cap by itself.

I think that I need to reverse flush the motor and rebuild it 1 more time with new headgasets on both sides.

i can hear it steaming in the lower intake. that lower intake keeps leaking everytime i check it. i used ULTRA GREY silicone on it
