Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Well I finally got this thing finished up. I'm still experimenting taking pictures in my new photobooth. Its a bit oversized for these small scale models. I wanted to make sure it was large enough for my 1/12th scale projects. I think it might need more light. Anyway onto the pictures

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Looks really good, man. But were the valve covers really black on the real car? Or were they the standard LS7 red?

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
you know. I never saw an engine photo. But now that you mention that. I bet they should probably be red. Oh well. Its a shelfer for the most part.

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Alright. It looks great from the exterior. A couple hints on photography... if you're using a regular camera (that graininess can come from cell phones, I've noticed, so if you're using one of those, pay me no mind) then you'll wanna activate the macro function. And a little more light there would be splendid. I admit that I suck at taking pictures inside, so it's not the pot calling the kettle black. I just wanna see this model in it's proper glory.

This car comes without a hood?

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Man I almost forgot why I never post much. didn't bother with the hood. the radiator and intake box have fitment issues, had them with the C6 and the Z06. so I didn't bother with including the hood in the photographs as it doesn't fit properly. I mean...its white, imagine that. As for the photos. I'm still learning to shoot with this new photo booth. I think it needs some more light as it is larger than the directions I used because I wanted it to comfortably fit my 1/12th scale projects. I'll mess around with it some more Sunday and see if I can get some better photos. As for the camera it is a Fuji Finepix 5100. Should have any issues with it, it is merely the settings. I was working on dead batteries

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Sorry if I came off like I was ranking on you, dude. I didn't mean it that way. I really think you did a splendid job on the kit. I just didn't know if you knew about Macro or not. Not many people do, and I like to give it out as a hint.
As far as the hood, I will back you up on that completely. There is a minor fitment issue. I didn't mention it in my Z06 thread because I thought I screwed up my kit. Glad to know it wasn't just me

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Looks great Russ, I've been meaning to build my first Z06 with this paint scheme as well, I'm a huge Fellows fan. He's from just down the road from here!
![]() Just one comment, and it's an easy fix if you wish--the rear 3rd brake light pod is body colour (except the middle part that's the actual lense.) |

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
you don't always want to use macro.
In fact, because of the incredibly short focal range of digital camera's macro function, they are not that good for taking photos of smallish objects in their entirety like a model car. What you're better off doing is first of all, change settings to take max resolution at max image size. Then get yourself a tripod if you don't already have one and a decent pose-able lamp with a tungsten bulb. If you really want more control, then buy or make yourself a reflector as well. You'll get better shots by using the zoom on the camera to get close instead of the macro function. The tripod will keep camera steady for the shot. The reason for using max camera settings is that you are also better off cropping the image post photo-shoot to frame what you want better. edit: first things first though, have a play through the different white balance settings on the camera. I'm assuming that the background is white but as you can see, it's come out yellow. If you choose one of the others (or use the manual setting) you should be able to get that back to being white.

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
thanks guys. DM thanks for the camera tips.
As for the rest of it. I looked at the box art, but not close enough to notice the 3rd brake light was blacked out. As for the marker lights, There weren't any decals and I didn't feel like messing with the masking. She's gonna remain as she is for a while. Might not even address the issues. As for the hood problem. I'm not sure how to go about remedying it. You might look into shaving the bottom of the radiator so that the radiator/shroud/intake box assembly sits lower, then it may not interfere with the hood opening and closing.

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
The 3rd Brake light is white...and runs the full length of the rear.

Re: Ron Fellows Edition Z06
Are these the brakes that came with the kit? Nicely painted and washed. Very realistic.
