actually there all ED's so stop being picky....

what does your vin number say
CRX's should be 3HMED8 or 3HMED9
civicis should be 1HGED6 or 1HGED7
the ED8 or ED6 or ED7 or ED9 is your chassis code.

in japan its EF because its a different chassis... so if were gonna be picky enough to say that calling a 2nd gen CRX a 4th gen CRX then we should be calling them by there proper chassis codes.

Mine sure as hell isn't a ED :finger:

Nor is the JDM series of second generation CRX from which all CRXs are derived anything but an EF.

Most people who have been on the 4G scene a while refer to them as EFs. Feel free to do the same :finger: :finger:

I like being picky

hit me up on AIM. i will sort it out for ya. really you don't need to be concerned with this thread...i think setanta just wanted to make a thread

there were 3 versions of the 4th gen civic and 2nd gen crx. all this talk of ef and so on doesn't mean anything. it won't matter the difference between a JDM, USDM, or even EDM crx because yours will be from the US...and that is that. you could find yourself one of the other versions that has been imported but, it will be priced extremely high. i'm sure at this point you just want a crx

:finger: and one to you too Kris

Nah, he was confused when I referred to them as 2nd gen CRXs on AIM - thought they were 4th gen as people here wern't helping his impression in the other thread

Fishcat - as I recollect, the JHMED stands for Japan Honda Motors and then the vehicle designation - where it was built - at least, that's what it is on our cars that come from Honda in Japan. I remember having that info in a workshop manual on my Nissan 240K-GT (in the 80's admittedly ).

This is what's in my manual:

JHM ED1 5 2 0 0 S 0 00001

JHM: Honda Motor Co.
ED1: Chassis code
5: transmission (3=M5 3d, 4=A 3d, 5=M5 4d, 6=A 4d)
2: "model" no.
0: fixed code
0: extra number
S: factory (S=suzuka)
0: model year (0=88 1=89 2=90)
00001: serial number

For USDM, JDM and EDM chassis codes check my site: http://www.civic4g.com/specs.htm

Hope this clears things up

Cool Bracer - I couldn't remember the rest of it

What's really weird is that the SiR doesn't carry any of the designations, apparently it's applicable to overseas cars only.

Mine has EF9-100 and then a 4 digit serial number
