Trailer Light Plug
I have a 96 EB and I want (need) to intall a trailer plug, However when I went to Checkers they told me that I would have to splice the plug since the lighting is hard wired in. is this true or not? I need to know quick since I am going to pick up my trailer this weekend.
Thanks |

Re: Trailer Light Plug
If your Explorer has the auxilliary trailer wiring connector, it will be located under the driver's side (in the US) rear tail light, accessed from underneath the vehicle. Crawl under there with a flashlight and look for a circular plug with a rubber cap on it. If you find it, you should be able to just pick up a plug-and-play trailer wiring adapter and be good.

Re: Trailer Light Plug
Rod's advice is right. Also, check with parts houses to see if they have the adapter that plugs into the wiring harness on the driver side rear where the rear wiring splits.

Re: Trailer Light Plug
Well when I went to Checkers they told me that the split was not it because it is off of the taillights and it goes to the license plate light. but if you say that it is it then I am going to get the plug and play

Re: Trailer Light Plug
There should be a larger connection there where the right side lights come off the mauin wiring on the drivers side rear.
