The Getaway....

Has any one else been following the pre-release o the PS2 game "The Getaway" as closley as I have??- This game is like GTA3- ONly 10 times cooler- What you do is you drive a round photo-realistic London as an ex-bank robber forced into a life of crime- and when I say photo realistic I mean it- it looks exactly the same as London- even things like distances are the same as the real London, the cars are based on real life models and there are about 60 of them at that- So far I have spotted in the preview screenshots- a Peugeot 3O6, Lexus SC430, Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vectra, Old & New XJ Jaguars, Audi TT Roadsters, VW Golf, Bentley (Not sure exactly what is is), Saab 9000, Aston Martin V8 VAntage (Like James Bond once drove), Alfa Romeo 156, FIAT Punto, Mercedes S Class, previous model BMW 5-series, Nissan Micra, Toyota LiteAce vans, 3rd Gen Accord and Saab 9-3 - these are just a taste of what is to come- next there is the car damage- which is Very Realistic-sort of like it is in the new V8 Supercars game, also the cars handling is said to be representative of the real life cars handling.

Finally there is combat which is better than GTA3 because you can't just run around and shoot randomly- you have to avtually get behing a car or other object and avoid the fire.- Alsoyou CAN take HOSTAGES


This is going to be sweet as this game- teh release date is sometime between late December and mid- January

Sounds very interesting, though i wouldn't expect it too be on the same level as GTAVC.

But i'll have a look at it when it comes out, and i might go research it now.

Hmm, I read a few comments about the getaways demo the other day.

Its says the driving is quite good, and the graphics are really nice. But when you're on foot the camera is horrible, and it makes it really hard to shoot anyone.

But I havn't played the demo myself, so i can't back this up. But I'll rent the game when it comes out.

I pre-ordered the Getaway on Monday and previewed a demo all I can say is it is simply amazing, although it is a little hard outside the car, the excellence in all other respects more than makes up for it.
