1999 Tahoe Front A/C Warm, Rear Cold

At idle, and both front and rear fans on Max. A/C, the rear outlet air temp is 57 and the front is 74.

With the rear off and the front on Max. A/C the front outlet temp is 86 after 5 minutes with no cycling of compressor.

With the front fan speed on 1 and the rear on Max. the front air is 63 and the rear is 57.

Outside air is 92, 60%humidity.

At 35K miles there's not a lot of hours on the compressor.

I'm told the refrigerant charge is okay.

I would very much appreciate some help.

Thanks.

Re: 1999 Tahoe Front A/C Warm, Rear Cold

if you have access to an infrared thermometer, check the line temperatures for the front part of the system. If there is a big temperature difference at one point, you have a restriction in the system (although it could be the orifice tube) If you dont have an infrared thermometer, you can check the low side by hand, but the high side will probably be too hot to touch long enough to tell if there's a difference.

And how do you know it has a full charge?
