2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Fan and Display Problem

The blower motor on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and the digital display seem to be connected and both are malfunctioning. This problem isn't consistent. My display is blank and my ac blower will not work except on the five setting (sometimes this setting will not turn on either). Or my display is working and when I turn my ac on the display turns off and the ac won't turn on. At times the display is trying to turn on and just clicks back and forth sounding like a turn signal. Still on and off both work and no problem. I can't find a reason or trigger for the malfunction. Anyone have this problem and any ideas on how to trigger and fix it?

Look in the tips and maintenance section at the top of the Grand Prix forums for the ignition switch/harness assembly instructions. This is most likely your issue.

Re: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Fan and Display Problem

We tried to replace the fan motor transistor but to no avail. Looks like this is a digital or disk problem. Has no one had this sequence before? I don't think the ignition switch is an issue. I saw this problem posted on another forum but no answers there either.
This site has a lot of useful info - I am having issues with my sunroof and will try some suggestions for sealing it. Thanks.

Re: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Fan and Display Problem

Hello,

I am having the same problem. When I put power to the orange wire leading to the ignition switch, the DIC turns on and the blower works on other settings.
