Door lock problem

Ok, so the car has been running like a beast...I mean a beast. I ruined a c5's day last night. Dusted a 350z, an s2000, and an m3 last week. Even tried to chase down my boy's Suzuki TL1000 (that was a tad too ambitious)...but you get the point...the car's been running great and been a blast to drive.

Problem is this, last week my battery slid a bit and hte positive cable came a tad lose. My clock/stereo, etc never lost power, but the cables weren't tight enough to start the car. I tighted down the positive cable...no dice. Tightened it down a bit more, bingo it starts. Problem being...now my door locks are acting nutty. Everytime they are unlocked, they relock themselves instantly. Whehter it be by key, remote, or the unlock button in the car, as soon as they are unlocked, they lock again and the security light comes on on the dash. It's a tad annoying, and I havn't had the time to really look into it. Blown fuse, short in the ETACS unit? I don't know, anybody more familiar with the stock security system have an idea?

Re: Door lock problem

sounds like its getting constant power for some reason (i know the locks get constant power usually) but that its constantly being "locked", which would have to be some sort of short i would think.

do you maybe have something spliced into the fuse box circuit for the locks?

i would check the fuse first, then try and clean the bat. terminal and post...maybe get a new terminal. hopefully its not ur ETACS...

maybe your key fob is malfunctioning and constantly sending out a "lock" signal, lol. not likely...but its easy enough to check.

hope you get it figured out man.

nice kill on the c5 btw!...care to divulge any details on that one? and how was that M3? i havnt had the chance to run one yet.

Re: Door lock problem

Mine act up occasionally like that. Most people usually point to the ETACS as being at fault. It may just be a coincidence it happened after the battery slid. You know better than most of us that electrical gremlins are a bitch.

Re: Door lock problem

Yeah someone just made a thread over on 3Si about this not too long ago. Mine does this every once in a while, but i'm pretty sure its just the key fob. These stock security systems and keyless entry are junk imo.

Re: Door lock problem

I should have clarified...this problem starting occuring 3 seconds after my battery problems....AND...it does it all the time. Between me hitting the disarm button on the my remote, and the door locking itself again, I have less than a second to grab the handle and open the door. None of my passengers react quick enough, so I then have to hold down the unlock button on the inside of hte car until they lift upt he passenger handle. It's a PITA.

Re: Door lock problem

Oh I understood your problem, I just had no answer for you other than something mildly related Weird problem, probably the ETACS unit messed up with the pos. terminal sparking around....i've seen plenty of cars that got weird electrical problem after a loose cable started shorting. Computers aren't meant to handle that.
