My 900s shakes in idle and reverse

Hi all,

I have a 1998 Saab 900s with 142,000 miles on it. I have noticed that it shakes a little bit while sitting it's idling or if it's in reverse. I am planning on getting a major tune up at 150k which costs ~ $800, but I brought it to a mechanic who said that a minor tune up (~$225) would fix the shaking. I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that a minor tuneup wouldn't help much on a car this old. Does anyone have any suggestions / advice?

Thanks!

change the spark plugs, if that doesnt work change the DI cassette. if that fails to fix reverse then look into a new clutch or tranny.

Check all of your vacuum lines. We replaced a few w/dry rot and now it's running much smoother.

where do you live that a 150k service costs 800. The shaking most likely has nothing to due with servicing...probably something esle entirely
