How much boost can 9B handle?

How many pounds of boost is it ok to race with on the stock 9b twin turbo setup, the turbos have about 50K miles on them.

Re: How much boost can 9B handle?

I think you can run them up to 14.5 psi, but i would be slightly hesitant to do that without monitoring for knock. Someone else will probably shed some more insight on this.

Re: How much boost can 9B handle?

you should be fine at 14.5
15 and up is when you would need to start monitering knock

15 psi. Anything beyond that is beyond its effeciency range.

Re: How much boost can 9B handle?

monitoring knock with a datalogger should be THE first mod for any TT car. get to know your car before you just blindly decide to turn up the boost. knowing how your car reacts and what goes on is critical.

Re: How much boost can 9B handle?

Re: How much boost can 9B handle?

To answer all questions in this thread. Every car is different, no one here can tell you what is "safe" for YOUR car. YOU need to buy a datalogger, and monitor for knock while turning up the boost. You can turn it up as high as you want so long as you have no knock. MOST 3S's limit on stock fuel is 14-16 psi. Once you've established that you get no knock at a certain boost level, you can leave it there all the time.
