Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler Illegal?
im putting one on my car soon and my dad keeps buggin me that it's illegal.
Is it illegal to put a performance muffler on your car? I live in PA what are the laws against it if there are any.

Easiest way to find out and best way is when you see a cop stopped at a gas station just ask him then there's no question about if it's legal or not because the people that would be writing tickets for it would be telling you. The only reason I can see that it would be illegal is if it caused what's called noise pollution by being to loud.

A lot of cops don't know the laws, they just enforce what they know. I got pulled over with an "In Transit" sign in the back window of my truck on my way home from buying it (which is legal here for 30 days after the sale, provided you have insurance) The cop made a big deal about it and decided he wanted to give me the maximum ticket so he went back to his car and looked through the citations (they actually have a book they carry with them). He came back 20 minutes later looking a bit defeated and told me to "drive straight home"
You might be better off talking to someone at the police station. Someone who doesn't pretend to know everything may take to time to look it up for you.
