Hello, could really use some help. My horn, automatic door locks and rear view mirror light are not working on my 92 Pontiac Firebird. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this problem? Thank you.

Thank you so much. I will definitely do that. Can you please tell me where I can find the fuse box? This is a great help, thank you!

Thanks so much, really. Let me ask you just one more question...is it right there or do I need to remove it with tools? Thanks again.

The panel has 2 tabs on the sides in the center, push them outward and the whole fuse panel swings down making it much easier to access the fuse.

Re: Horn, locks & rear view mirror light all not working...

You guys are so wonderful! Thank you so much! I went to the panel, located the #20 ACC fuse and then realized I need to get one from the auto parts store. So, I put it back, went to the auto parts store this morning and changed the fuse. It WORKED!! How can I thank you guys for saving me some money by not going to my mechanic, thanks thanks thanks!

So, after I put the fuse in - it worked. Then I closed my center console and the light wouldn't go out, so I sort of hit it, then the fuse blew again. I am going to put some crazy glue and a piece of tape to keep the button down...I don't need that light anyway. This way all the rest of the stuff will work again. I am not that mechanically inclined (big surprise to you guys), so I cannot open up the center console and get in there to fix it...I am just not capable of that I don't believe so I know enough not to attempt it. Shutting down that light will fix things just fine, I'm sure.

Thanks again so much, you guys are really incredibly great and every time I have a stupid question you all help so much. This place is really the best!

Well that goes to show you always check the obvious stuff first, it is so easy to be overlooked.

Speaking of obvious, it would seem that either the switch is bad for the light, or the wiring has been chaffed back and exposed to ground, hence short to ground causing the circuit protection (fuse) to blow. I would look into the wiring, might jsut need to be taped up. Electrical problems in consoles and dashes, should not be ignored, they can become a BIG problem in due time.

You may absolutely have something there. I have changed the fuse twice now and it keeps blowing out. I did put a little bit of crazy glue on the little button that needs to be kept down to shut off the light and then put a little piece of duct tape on it (I know it doesn't look pretty, but its all I can do right now) to keep it down and it is staying down, but that can't be the problem because it keeps blowing the fuse. Now, I'm stumped. I have no idea where I need to check the wires or anything. Any more advice you may have would really be appreciated. In the meantime, I am riding around without a horn, and it has been dangerous to say the least. Please help me to figure this out. Thank you so much for your help.

my 91 had the same issue. it's actually quite common. i solved mine by replacing the interior light pins in both door jams. the lighter is also a common culprit of this problem.

Genopsyde, you are an absolute angel! My daughter took it upon herself a couple of weeks ago to take the lighter out and try to recharge her cell phone. I don't smoke and didn't need it so I never thought about it. Since then some pennies, a gum wrapper and some piece of plastic I have no idea what it goes to wound up in the lighter hole. Last night we took everything out of there and replaced it with the lighter again. This morning I changed the fuse again and it is working like it should again. How can a person ever thank you for all the trouble you have saved me. I would have never thought of that, I mean never. In the most busiest time in my life right now where I am pulled in 17 directions, this was such an amazing blessing for me, I can't even tell you. If I could jump through the screen and give you a big hug, I would! Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much!
