97 with 2.2 stalling and rough idle

I need help. I have been fighting a problem or possibly several problems in the past 6-8 months.

The problem started with a leaking fuel injector, Changed the O-rings on the injectors, and the leak went away, but about 2 weeks later the service engine light came on. It showed a misfire on cylinder 2. I changed plugs and wires, and it did not fix the problem. I changed the #2 fuel injector and it ran better for a week and then a miss went to another cylinder, this happened to every cylinder. So now I have 4 new injectors and new plugs and wires.
It runs good for a week.

It sometimes starts a little hard. Then it started idling rough, it runs fine driving down the road. It also stalls out sometimes when coming to a stop. It always refires though.

Then the engine light comes on and reads system too rich bank 1. Out of ideas we take it to a mechanic and he says everything is checking out fine except there is a miss between cylinders 1 and 4. So he reccommended changing the coil for cylinders 1 and 4(same coil) and if that didn't work maybe the ignition module. Well it sounds like it is trial and error to me. I changed the coil. Still runs the same.

Any ideas I am completely frustrated.

Thanks!

Re: 97 with 2.2 stalling and rough idle

hope u figure it out ........i got the exact same problem...started with a leaky fuel injector. i replace the fuel injector, then the fuel pump, then plugs and wires. runs ok but stalls sometimes when coming to a stop, but always refires. i have a crack in the plastic intake tube....hoping that is something that might cause it. waiting on the new cold air intake to see if it helps. good luck
