Question Can you change a wrist pin from the bottom?

I was told by someone that the clicking noise in my engine is a wrist pin. I have adjusted the valves and I know its not those. If this is true can I change the faulty wrist pin by dropping the oil pan ....without pulling the engine? Help Please !!

Re: Can you change a wrist pin from the bottom?

Wrist pins are inside the piston head which is normally up inside the bore somewhere. The piston has to be removed from the bore in order to get to the pin. This means unbolting the piston rod from the crank shaft at the bottom of the engine, and then lifting it out from the top of the cylinder/head at the top of the engine. (That is if you don't want to pull out the entire crankshaft.) Pulling the engine and working on it outside the vehicle will make the job much easier.

Good luck.
