Re: Compressor problem

its a very common problem with these cars, your compressor isnt really going out though, mines been doing it on and off for almost 4 years now and my a/c still works like new

Re: Compressor problem

It isnt a bearing, does it sound like metal spinning on metal kind of?? I had this problem and got it fixed, it's the AC Compressor Clutch, its sitting against the compressor itself so as its off the clutch is spinning againsthe compressor, and when you turn it on, the compressor clutch gets pulled into the compressor which would stop the noise, take it to a mechanic, some may not know how to do it, say you would like the AC Compressor Clutch spaced about 1/8 or maybe even 2/8 of an inch from the compressor, which in turn will stop it from idling against hte compressor itself which gets rid of that noise, I hated that noise, it bothered me so much, thats why i know this because i just had to get rid of it, hope this helps, it cost me $130 CAD to get done at 70$ an hour shop rate, so find a cheap mechanic and its nottoo expensive. Let me know how it turns out for you.
