Drivers Side Door Chimes with no key in ignition and with headlights off & door open
When the drivers door is open on my 2001 ford focus the door chime rings when there are no keys in the ignition and with the headlights off. It will turn off when the car is started but will ring when opening the door just as if you have the keys in the ignition or inadvertly leave your headlights on. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this and how it can be corrected?
Thanks Jim |

just a thought, check your trunk lock, and see if something got bump in it to cause the chime to go off.

When the trunk is not lached a door open light stays on on the dash so I don't think it's that.

I too have a '01 focus and had the same problem. The ignition where you actually put the key in is a round metal button in which you push into the column when you turn the key. This button sometimes sticks after you remove the key. Just push this metal button with the tip of your finger and it should pop right back out when you let go. I've been doing it for years .
