help with glass tailgate

hi eveyone, ok here's the problem....i have 96 jimmy slt 4door, and my damn tailgate wont open. I press the remote keyless entry for the tailgate and nothing, i then press the button from the inside and still nothing, all i hear is the gears trying to unlock but not fully. The other doors open fine. I actually found a section in the manual incase there is an emergency where u may have to pop open the rear tailgate window from the inside, but no luck...any suggestions would we so appreciated....thanks in advance guys
