1998 Jimmmy 4x4 not disengaging

Hi Everyone,

I happen to be surfing the net and came upon this website. Seems very imformative.

My 1998 Jimmy (50,000 miles) has been acting up for the last few months sporadically, but now it has become a problem. When I would take it for a long drive up long hills for some reason when when I slowed down I would hear a clicking loud clicking noise from the front. To get rid of it, I would switch to 4x4 high for a few seconds and then back to 2x4 and every thing would be fine. This happened about 6 times in the last year, but since I don't drive the vehicle often, it could of been more.

Now the problem has turned into a steady one. It seams that regular 2x4 does not work as that noise I used to hear is always there unless I switch it to 4x4

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
