"shifting" paint
I've been wondering...is there a way to replicate the shifting paint (harlequin etc) you see on some cars? Is there a manufacturer that sells paint like that or is there a way to create that sort of effect?

http://www.automotiveforums.com/scal...b/ferrari.html ![]() There are several ways to replicate 'chameleon' paint, many companies offer some type or another. Here's a short list: Duplicolor Mirage - http://www.duplicolor.com/products/mirage.html Alclad II Prismatic www.twoguysracing.com (I have heard that their metal pigments are much too big to be in scale). House of Kolors - https://secure14.websitecomplete.com...ept.asp?dept=2 (pricey but worth it from what I hear!) The last two require an airbrush to apply, the Duplicolor comes in three spray cans, primer, color, and clear coat. |

You can't produce it, it's high tech chemical magic. If you can find a supplier, look for Duplicolor's Mirage paint, Alclad has some in their line, and of coarse Dupont or PPG in the automotive line.

Duplicolor looks cool, House of Kolor stuff is nice as well. But does any one know where I can get this stuff in the UK?

Jimbob and myself have been talking about the possibilities of me selling this stuff as he can get hold of it quite easily. It started from me wanting to have the authentic paint to include with my F+F supra kit and we realised that other cool colours would sell well too. They are proper auto paints but are water based (soon to be a requirement by law here) and would require airbrushing. If this happens i dont know if i'd be able to ship outside the UK though - certainly not by airmail anyway.

Ummm,
Yes House of Kolor paint DOES come in cans. You just need to find the right dealer thats all. The dealer near me (50miles away) has a wide selection of HOK paint in 8once spray cans, including the color changing stuff. Here is the address if anyone wants to get a hold of them for some paint: Black Gold 2247 E Division Street Arlington, TX 76011 817-633-1135 http://www.blackgoldweb.com Scott

Well, if you do eventually get an airbrush, believe it or not, there is certain types of nail polish available. Undercoat the models with silver or flat black, thin the nail polish with acetone and airbrush on. You might be able to brush it on, if you are keen enough (not recomended).
and did I tell you about painting window rubbers with lipstick, ohh the possibilities Quote:
)So I think even cans of hairspray and stuff like that isn't allowed on planes either. I am unsure about other forms of transport though, I would think that by car or boat should be alright.
