89 crx white smoke...but not head gasket

my friend races a 89 crx d15b2 (dpfi) and last week she said she got hit and then the next race she got black flagged for smoking..... when i looked at the car the next day i could not see white smoke at idle...but once you got above 2500 rpm you could see some moderate white smoke. i did a compression test and got 160-165 across the board....popped the rad cap and ran the car and didnt see any bubbles.....but the timing was off by about 1 tooth i believe.....now today installed new head gasket at her request and while doing that i retimed the motor and same result with the smoking above 2500 rpm..... now along with all this her ecu is spitting out 16 blinks which says fuel injector......she bought a 20$ injector off ebay and put it in and then wouldnt run above 4000 rpm...put the old one back in and it runs fine..just smokes........so now im starting to scratch my head.......any suggestions????? greatly appreciated......

if your sure its not the gasket.. could be a warped head or acrack in the block or head somewhere

i was told her dad took it to work and dye tested it and it came out ok.....but still could have a warped head or cracked/warped block..... i just say shit can the 1.5 and throw in a solid 1.6 and be done with it.......but that aint gonna happen any time soon....

you can get a d16z6 in good shape for about 300 with tranny in my area.. i would swap it and forget about it
