Missing at 3500rpms and up!!!
I have a 2002 taurus with a 24v duratech dual overhead cam. At 3500 rpm it starts to jump (I think its missing) and will not rev past 4000rpm. This is in neutral. I've changed the wires and plugs. I have a peak KV tool and some of the wires say 10.4 and some go as high as 23 KV. I'm thinking about replacing the single coil pack? Any other ideas?
Oh yeah, BTW I'm new here so welcome everyone. |

Re: Missing at 3500rpms and up!!!
It's limited to around 3500 RPM in neutral. The limiter is there so you don't damage the transmission while revving in neutral.

Does the engine jump while it is limiting it?
YES, it does move but I would use the term "torquing" instead of jumping. Unless youhave a darn good reason, I wouldn't be revving it up that high so the RPM limiter kicks in. |
