Broken Springs

I just had my '99 Escort go through state safety inspection and found out that both rear springs were broken. The one on the right side was broken at the top and the one on the left on the bottom. I couldn't feel any changes in teh way it drove nor did I suspect anything. I know that other forum members have had similar issues so I just wanted to let everyone know what happened to me. If you have a late model Escort I recommend that you check the rear springs. I guess Ford wanted to make more money and used a cheaper spring.

Re: Broken Springs

Escorts are notorious for broken springs. If you've owned an escort for more than a couple years, you've had one or more broken springs, guarenteed. Most of the time they break at the bottom or top, like yours, and they go unnoticed.
