2001 Camry won't idle

Hello.

We have a 2001 Camry US built 4cyl., automatic that won't idle at all after replacing the battery.

What could be causing this?

The car has 68000 miles.

Thanks in advance!

Re: 2001 Camry won't idle

Chances are the computer had adjusted to a build up of carbon on the throttle bores and plate. When the battery was disconnected the comp "forgot" the adjustments. I'd remove the intake tube and spray them down with carb cleaner. My Crapillac does the same thing.
FWIW
YMMV

Re: 2001 Camry won't idle

Thank you for your reply!

There's a Toyota dealer service writer who lives on my street. When I first bought the car, a Toyota Certified used car, I asked him if there were any known issues about this particular year and model. He mentioned something about an idle control issue but I can't remember exactly what it was. What ever it is, I hope it isn't expensive to repair. I have taken excellent care of this car and it has low milage for its year. I plan to keep it until the wheels fall off.

Regards,

FP
