clearcoat question
hey guys...question... how do you get mild orange peeling out of the final clearcoat? how does a using a 2000grit sand paper sound!??!!? and is it safe to sand(2000grit) over decals that have a layer of clear over them? i'm using TS-13 over TS-26 if that helps...
THANKs!!

i dont know what other people do but i use 2000 grit paper to get rid of slight orange peel. then i use tamiya polish followed by wax. works for me. my models look ok. nothing that will win a contest but still pretty darn shiney. its up to the modeler. there are people out there that use polishing kits with grits into the tens of thousands. i think breathing too hard on the surface of the model does more damage than something of that grit but im probably wrong. they didnt make those kits for nothing right?

Using 2000 grit then using Tamiya compound sounds good, go for it. Depends on how thick a coat you put on, but if you're only doing light sanding, then the decals should be safe. Check your sanding sheet often for color - that means you've sanded through the clear coat and could risk damaging the decals. I'd do a couple more coats of clear just to be on the saf side.
