2000 z71 5.3 Lost OD

I have a z71 with a freshly overhauled tranny (last 10k). On the way into the office today the trans would not go into OD. No codes are being registered on my scanner and it seems to shift from 1,2,3 just fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You may need a transmission capable scanner to get transmission codes or data.
Does it have a tow haul button?
How is fluid and fluid level?
Got any warranty left on rebuild?

Does your scanner read tranny codes or just engine codes? Generic scanners will only read engine codes and a tranny problem needs to be looked at with a scanner able to get into the tranny system. If it's not going into 4th over there's going to be a DTC. Post the DTC's for the tranny when you get them.

Re: 2000 z71 5.3 Lost OD

I do have a few months left on the warranty. I'm under the impression that it wasn't the best rebuild job...But I couldn't afford the dealer quote.

Fluid was a little low, so I added some and the problem seems to have subsided. However, it's not a constant problem, tends to happen once the truck warms up.

Keep'n my fingers crossed for now.

Thanks.

Oh, and no, I can't read trans codes, just engine...

If you have warranty left you need to get it back in to them.
Good luck
