WIP Honda Cbr1100xx Blackbird
This moment I 'm working on the CBR1100XX. The engine, wheels and some other parts are in primer. Some parts of the cowling are painted and had a few coats of clear. Just need to be polished and waxed.
![]() ![]() Some parts still have to be painted semi gloss black

Superb paint job, that tank looks great. What paint have you been using?

Re: Honda Cbr1100xx Blackbird
The metal flakes are really even. You've done a great job applying that paint.

small update
This moment I've set the decals and clearcoated the cowl. There's also a lot to be painted if I only had the time
The shine in the middle isn't a mistake. It is a reflection of the camera. It is hard to take a photo of such a color. I will try again later.

Re: Honda Cbr1100xx Blackbird
Hi Ketje,
Beautiful paintwork.Very nice job so far.I built this model for a friend once who had the real bike.I remember I had a slight fit problem when I attached the main fairing parts together.Yours may not have the same problem but I just thought I would let you know in case it does.Looking forward to seeing your model progress.

Re: Honda Cbr1100xx Blackbird
Due to other projects scale 1/1 and time spending with my little daghter this project is a bit behind schedule.
Here some progress on the exhaust system wich I've been modifying. ![]() ![]() Springs are from HIROBOY, the exhaust-tips are from Topstudio. The end can will be done using carbon decals. |

Re: Honda Cbr1100xx Blackbird
Some pictures of the progres. Still needs to be done a lot, like washes and further details.
![]() Frame sprayed semi-gloss black and the rest is handpainted Testor Metalizer ![]() Carbs still need a wash. ![]() Muffler sprayed gloss black and is waiting for the Alclad II and carbon decals ![]() Still need some detail painting ![]() I've used some aluminium rivets with flange from HIROBOY. Waiting for the turning lights. But I have a little problem with painting them. Does anyone know the best method for doing this? |
