Hey ya'll! Once again,me needs some help. I got some Super Clear from Gunze, thinned it,and was airbrushing it...Actually,trying to airbrush it,because it wasn't flowing like it should. I wasn't even seeing it come out!! (That is what I call a Super clear!! LOL)
Then, some stuff like web...Or something similar...Started to "glue" on the paint box,a bit on the airbrush itself, some on my clothes...I didn't take pics,I was just too pissed about it. But now, everything is right,I sanded the bad clear down (Because I insisting in spraying into the model,I started to spray from really close, and for my surprise,it was coming out.) It was coming out,but after it dried,it dried FLAT. So,if I alredy sanded all the bad clear away, why am I making a thread?? I want to know what caused that. Because it really was dissapointing,I wanted so hard to try that clear...But that doesn't mean it was bad!! I created this thread to know why it came that way,not that I lost faith on the paint! Possible causes? Anyone? Maybe I didin't clean my AB right? Does some acrylic mixed with laquer causes this problem?? Because the last thing I sprayed in my AB was acrylic. So,if some paint didin't cleaned out from the interior of the airbrush, that caused it?? Or maybe the paint passed it's "consuming" time?? Sorry for the bad english!! Rodolfo.

Re: Clear comes out like web!!
You're getting webs because the clear isn't thinned enough. Laquers (especially laquer clears) will often leave webs like this when insufficiently reduced- particullarly in hot and/or humid weather. The solution is add compatable thinner.

Re: Clear comes out like web!!
Possible cause of your problem concented paint on an airbrush with large diameter nozzle head.
I had similar experiance with my old tamiya airbush package many years ago(airbrust + compresser), never experiance that problem again with all my double axel airbrush Is just my personal experiance, correct me if I am wrong

Re: Clear comes out like web!!
I've had web problems before with Gunze's Mr.Surfacer...
Reasons: 1. Like MPWR said, it wasn't thinned enough. 2. Dirty airbrush. Strip your airbrush and give it a good clean BEFORE & AFTER. This will insure that you have a clean airbrush for this job and the next. Take out the needle and remove the nozzle carefully and clean everything that the paint will come in contact to. I use hardware store lacquer thinner and a dental 'in-between' brush. HTH, Steve

Re: Clear comes out like web!!
You didn't say what you thinned it with. If it's a lacquer based clear (which it sounds like it is), you need to use a lacquer thinner (or reducer, or whatever). I once thinned paint with the wrong thinner and it came out just as you described, as a web. If you thinned it properly, then disregard my post, I'm just throwing it out there.

Re: Clear comes out like web!!
Thanks everyone!!
Willmo,I thinned with the same thinner from my paint...I think it was the crappy cleaning I did to it...Because,if it were the thinner, the paint would come flat also, right? ![]() Thanks everyone!! Sorry for the n00bish-ness!
