Traffic Ticket

Today I was pulled over at a road block because the officer thought my registration had expired. I had my registration sticker about 1 month before but just didn't have it on my window, which the officer knew. He then wrote me a uniform traffic ticket for :

My "Registration not affixed" (no sticker) which is a Traffic infraction, Did he have the right to write me a ticket for this even though he knew I had the new registration 1 month prior?

Re: OT: Traffic Ticket ?

Yes, he had the right to write that ticket. It is the vehicle owner's responsibility to make sure the vehicle has the proper registration documents,(including current sticker,) insurance card, and any current safety and/or emissions sticker,(if required in your state,). The best thing to do is to contact the court where you are supposed to take care of the ticket and talk to someone , either the court clerk, judge or ADA and explain the situation and see if there is anything you can do to either get the ticket reduced or thrown out. Sometimes showing proof that the sticker is now affixed to your window might be proof enough.Plus if the date the registration was renewed is on the sticker or supporting document, that would be proof that it was properly registered at the time the cop gave you the ticket.
