Corvette C6R Paint Help!

Guys,

I have just bought the Revell Corvette C6R Le Mans kit, and I'm having trouble matching up the yellow paint.... Tamiya's Chrome Yellow is a little dark for the yellow on the box art of the model kit...

Any suggestions?

Lloyd

Re: Corvette C6R Paint Help!

Lloyd, I used Tamiya Camel Yellow:

These shots are inside, but it matches the paint on the real C6R almost perfectly.

Re: Corvette C6R Paint Help!

@LIoyd

The 2005 Car used Corvette Yellow Millenium or you can take also Renault R386.

The Camel yellow from tamiya is not that bad,but it go`s to much in the orange.
The Corvette yellow is a ligther yellow.

Also the C5-R yellow cars had there diffrent colors between the years.

In the year 2000 the C5-R use the same yellow as the C6-R the Renault RAL 386.

Year 2001 the cars are painted RAL 1004

Year 2002 again the Ral 386

Year 2003 (blue cars) Dark Montana Blue (Blue M2C 22/WA 113A)

Year 2004 again the RAL 386

So if you go to a Colormixer you can get the RAL 386 and you have the correct color on your kit.

Re: Corvette C6R Paint Help!

If you are picky or a perfectionist (as I am) then:
Here & here.
Cover that with this or this or any other good clear.

IIRC my local paint mixers will only do batches no smaller than 500cc, and if the paint is metalic... then the flakes normally are way too big. Steve (Hiroboy) has the more suitable sizes... paint volume and flake size.

HTH,
Steve
