2000 gtp headlights

hey guys!!!! what is going on with all the grand prix headlights that seem to get foggy on the inside? Bbothof mine are like that, and I am going to order 2 new ones off of ebay and was wondering how hard they are to switch out? Anyone ever done it before? Also what can I do with the new ones to keep then from getting moisture on the inside and fogging up? Thanks again for the help!!!!!!

My 2000 GT and 2001 GTP both have this problem, I would love to know how to correct it. I was told by a mechanic that I could put small holes on the bottom the the light fixture... really?

Congrats on the GTP Tblake!! Moisture fogging indicates that the seal between the clear lens and the reflector has developed a leak. If the clear lens is foggy (looks hazy, no longer clear), that is from UV exposure. Be careful of the cheap replacements, as the reflector chrome will flake and peel, leaving your headlights useless.

I made the mistake of buying cheaper ones on ebay. My lenses were getting hazy and the adjusting screws were stripped. The ebay ones were very light (compared to the OEM) and would not stay tightened down. When you would drive over a bumpy road the lights would vibrate. The chrome on the inside was also peeling off. These are a piece of cake to swop out. Two 10mm bolts and then slide out the light fixture and unhook the cable. Might want to go to a junk yard and get an OEM headlight or check ebay as well for OEM headlights. Might be a little used but are better than the $60 ones. I bought a slightly used OEM one and sealed the outside with a thin layer of super glue all the way around the seal.

I have a '98 GTP and the right light exhibited a fogging problem. I recently removed the light (getting at the fuel pump resistor) and discovered the sealant between the lense and the housing was deteriated. I seperated the lense, cleaned it and the housing surfaces, and used some white marine adhesive/sealant. It appears to be holding well, but haven'y driven the car enough yet to know if the fogging is really repaired.

when i bought my gt the drivers headlight was corroded on the outside. so i took it all off (very easy to do), wet sanded it with 1000 grit sanding paper, then 2000, then polished it with miguars plastx. Looks almost like new again, just takes some time.

I have a 97 GS. I had the same problem. For the most part you need to replace the lense. I did take mine apart and was able to clean some of the haze away. I heard that if you use toothe paste on the outside of the lense it will help. it will only help if the outside is faded or dull, not the inside.

They seem alright, dont they? The dealer quoted me just under 300 for a set. I'd be saving 50% if i bought these ones.
