96 Jetta Gl 2.0 ltr stalling at stops

Hi

My 96 VW Jetta 2.0 has an idle problem>> when driving it is fine
but as soon as i come to a stop it idles down to 0 and stalls out. So I have to start it up again and depress the gas to keep it running. Has anyone encountered a problem such as this.. It just started yesterday >> the car runs great even at almost 200 thou. any help would be appreciated.
