Flickering Gas Guage!!
1. 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT
2. 123,110 miles 3. Automatic 5.7L 4. 4 wheel drive 4 door My gas guage started flickering one day so i asked a bunch of friends and did my research online and all of them said it was the fuel sending unit in the fuel pump, so i purchased a new fuel pump (with the fuel sending unit included), changed it out and started the truck, started up fine and it runs fine but the gas guage needle is still flickering!! I just spent $200+ but it didn't fix my problem. So i'm stumped and a little irritated. Is it the needle guage, ground, or the whole cluster? I really need help! I can't keep replacing parts that are "PROBABLY BAD" because I can't afford to. |

Re: Flickering Gas Guage!!
Ryan: Welcome to the forum. It's most likely the guage. I replaced the pump/sender assy in my '98 Sub last year just 'cause. My fuel guage was "fluttering" before and after. There is a web site in Texas that repairs panels for this and other problems (do a google search for "instrument panel repairs").

Re: Flickering Gas Guage!!
I have the same problem, I heard also that it was the fuel pump going, thanks for giving me the heads ups before I went through that expense. Let me us if you get the gauge fixed to see if that takes care of the problem.
