Transmission Down! Need Help!

Okay, i have a 92 K1500 with the 5.7L and an automatic transmission. (i assume 4L60). I have no Reverse and VERY LITTLE forward gear at all. I can get it to go a little if i put it in gear(not Drive though). Any ideas what this might be?

Have you checked the fluid level and transmission filter?

Re: Transmission Down! Need Help!

It is a 700r4 4l60 trans took one from a 92 GMC K1500 and put it in a 88 Chevy C1500 my trans was doing the same thing the clutchs was bad in mine reverse and 4th use same clutches and planetery gears if I aint misstaken . you should try filter first they can cause low pressure problem that can cause this symptom also , good luck.

Re: Transmission Down! Need Help!

If it has fluid then it is probably time for a rebuild. Probably the foward clutch. 4th gear uses a 2-4 band to engage on the 4l60 which isn't a real high failure point unless you tow in overdrive.
