styrene tubing size

hi,
im wondering what size of styrene size tubing if i wanted to make an exhaust.
I know the size needed for making the muffler from the faq and how to's.
Also what is the average size styrene needed for scratch building majority of the other aftermarkets items? ex : disk brakes, etc.

thx!

Re: styrene tubing size

Well, if you are looking to do exhaust, I would recommend using 3mm solder or the like. There are countless sizes of Styrene tubing so the choice is out there. I would go to your LHS and see what is best. I use the solder for the 1/24th that I make.

As for the other question, again, there are countless sizes of Styrene out there. I just picked up a pack at my LHS that is a odds and ends pack. It is loaded with a ton of sizes of tubing, sheet, etc...

I would say try your LHS. I found the 3mm solder at Home Depot.

I cannot think of anything that would be easy other than making your own. Search this forum for the how to's. If not there, links should take you to one.

Re: styrene tubing size

Try Ace Hardware for solder. I picked up a tube of 1/16 Kester solder for less than $2.

Also try aluminum tubing for exhaust parts, much more realistic than plastic, but a little trickier to form.
