foggy headlight lens on 97 mercury marquis

My headlight lens are foggy on the inside. They seem to have moisture build up and a residue. I've cleaned the outside but don't know how to remove the lens to clean the inside. I've been told that I need to replace the lens. They are about $200 dollars each so I'm looking for an alternative. Any suggestions?

It is very common for these to "fog" on the outside. Are you sure it is on the inside? If it is there is not much you can do as these are sealed units. Check the outside by putting some automotive polish on it and buffing it out. It fixed my 1998.

My '97 has that too, but totally on the outside. I bought one of those Permatex kits, which was about $10 and a waste. You can do the same job with some light compound and a rotary buffer. Another idea, check at a glass shop for anything they make to restore weathered plexiglass, boat places should have it too.

Polishing Compound Worked Wonders For Me, I Had My Doubts Untill I Started Rubbing The Fog Off.

If it is on the inside, the lenses are held onto the bucket by silicone. You can take them aart and clean them. However, you need to be really careful when trying to separate them or put them back together. If the silicone you isn't a really high quality, the lens will fall off the bucket and you will have more troubles.
